Why You Should Visit Ruston, Louisiana

Yes, It is a Conference USA school.

Yes, the stadium holds less than 29,000 fans, and they are what most think of with the exception of the University of Tulane on tying for the red-headed stepchild  in this state…

Ok, Erica, tell me the catch?

Ruston, it is the largest city in the Northeastern Louisiana region. Its economy is derived from two things: The “Annual Peach Festival “, and Lousiana Tech University.  There are adorable shops downtown, chain restaurants in the city, and most of its’ artistic activities are offered through the University.

Ruston offers you a sense of small-town comfort just close enough to other main attraction cities like Shreveport, and Monroe.

You have to also try Cheeburger-Cheeburger while you’re in town. For all of you non-meat eaters, their veggie burger with fries – DEVINE. I am a little sad I didn’t have enough room in my stomach for a milkshake or two.

Thanks Baby Noah.

The Smaller, Friendly Campus

Louisiana Tech is a designated “research” University which offers you less than 15,000 enrollment. This can only mean that unlike your Louisiana State University, they exercise a smaller student to teacher ratio: Some students and their family may find this quite appealing.

From the Pine Trees that surround your every walk, to the highly acclaimed Engineering and Science programs, LA Tech lives up to its’ 2017 Forbes America’s Top College ranking.

Fun Fact: According to the Association for University Technology Managers, La Tech ranked as second best academic institution for innovation productivity IN THE NATION. This is  measured by number of new inventions generated per research dollar expended.

This was the prettiest of several.

The Lady of the Mist symbolizes “Alma Mater” who welcomes new students and parts ways with graduates. She also embodies hope that Louisiana Tech graduates will fulfill their ambitions.

Notable Louisiana Tech Graduates:

“Trace Adkins, recorded three Number One country music hits; Terry Bradshaw, four-time Super Bowl champion; Kix Brooks, won more CMA and ACM awards than any act in country music history; Karl Malone, two-time NBA Most Valuable Player; Phil Robertson, founder of Duck Commander, star on television series Duck Dynasty; Will Wright, video game designer and creator of The Sims, the best-selling PC game of all time. “

Atmosphere and FOOTBALL

Quaint. Organized.  And VERY GOOD.

I am extremely bummed out that I did not get the Tuba Players chanting ” Say Girl, Say Girl, Give Me Your Number!”

*** I promise you when you push play, the videos are not upside down. I do not know why it has been doing that lately!***

Pre- Game festivities consisted of multiple tailgate camps with smells of funnel cakes, to children throwing the football around, and a live band playing in the background.

Also, where the fraternities tailgate is a place called “Hide Away Park” right outside the stadium.  You are doing it right in my book.

Did you know that Louisiana Tech remains the only public school in Louisiana to have defeated LSU in football?

Smaller School, BIG GAMES PLAYED. Louisiana Tech has played in front of crowds larger than 100,000.

at South Carolina (NEXT WEEK) , LSU (2018) , at Texas, Baylor (3 times) , at Mississippi (2022), at Clemson (2022).

You get the best of both worlds if I do say so myself.
